    Cancellation Policy

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson

    Purpose and scope

This policy applies to all private lessons with Harry Brandt Music LLC, whether held over Zoom or in person. Each lesson time is reserved exclusively for one student, so a missed slot cannot be offered to anyone else. The terms below keep scheduling fair for every student and allow lessons to continue at a consistent rate.

Effective October 22, 2026. This policy may be updated from time to time; the current version is always posted on this page.

    Cancellation notice

Students must give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson without charge. Notice is counted from the scheduled start time of the lesson.

    •  Send cancellations by email to harry@harrybrandtmusic.com, or by text if you already have the instructor’s number.
    • A cancellation is effective when the message is sent, not when it is read.
    • Lessons cancelled with 24 hours' notice may be rescheduled or credited toward a future lesson.

    Late cancellations and no-shows

Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, and lessons missed without notice, are charged at the full lesson rate.

    • Cancelled 24 or more hours ahead: no charge/full refund, and a make-up lesson is offered.
    • Cancelled less than 24 hours ahead: full lesson rate, with a make-up at the instructor's discretion. Illness cancellations are the exception (see below).
    • No-show (no notice given): full lesson rate, with no make-up.

For virtual lessons, a student who has not joined the Zoom call within 15 minutes of the start time is considered a no-show.

    Late arrivals

Lessons end at their scheduled time regardless of when the student arrives or joins. Time lost to a student's late arrival is not made up, and the full lesson rate applies. In-person students should arrive with their instrument assembled and ready to play at the start time where practical.

If the instructor starts a lesson late, the lost time will be made up, either by extending that lesson or adding it to a future one, or credited toward the next lesson.

    Make-up lessons

Make-up lessons are scheduled based on the instructor's availability and must be completed within 30 days of the missed lesson. Make-ups not used within 30 days expire.

    • Each student may schedule up to one make-up lesson per month.
    • An in-person student may take a make-up lesson over Zoom if no in-person slot is available.
    • A missed make-up lesson is not rescheduled again

    Instructor cancellations

If the instructor cancels a lesson for any reason, the student may choose either a make-up lesson at a mutually convenient time or a full credit or refund for that lesson. The instructor will give as much notice as possible, and at least 24 hours' notice except in emergencies.

Emergencies, illness, weather, and technical issues

Genuine emergencies may be excused from the late-cancellation charge at the instructor's discretion. Exceptions are limited and are not a substitute for timely notice.

    • Illness: Students who are ill should cancel their lesson rather than attend, whether in person or over Zoom. Illness cancellations are free of charge regardless of notice, though students should give as much notice as possible. Illness cancellations are eligible for a make-up lesson.
    • Severe weather: If travel to an in-person lesson is unsafe, the lesson moves to Zoom at the same time with no penalty.
    • Technical problems (student side): If a student's connection fails, the lesson continues once reconnected, and lost time is not made up. If more than half of the lesson is lost to a connection failure, the student may schedule a make-up lesson at no additional charge. This is granted up to twice per student, ever; later lessons lost to connection failures on the student's side are not eligible for a free make-up.
    • Technical problems (instructor side): Time lost to the instructor's connection or equipment is made up or credited.

    Payment and acknowledgment

Late-cancellation and no-show charges are due by the next scheduled lesson, or are deducted from any prepaid lesson balance. Lesson fees and prepaid packages are non-refundable except where this policy states otherwise.

Booking or paying for a lesson with Harry Brandt Music LLC confirms that the student (or a parent or guardian, for students under 18) has read and agrees to this policy.
